About us

Our History

The first meeting of the Beverley Anglo-French Society took place in September 1992 at The Tiger Inn, Beverley. The Society has continued to host a programme of events each year since including reciprocal visits between Beverley and Nogent sur Oise, a town about an hour’s drive north of Paris. The enthusiasm of the Society’s members and the links made in Nogent sur Oise led to an official twinning agreement between the two towns.Beverley/Nogent sur Oise Twinning Agreement

Since the formation of the Beverley Anglo-French Society (BAFS) in 1992 we have held monthly meetings and talks.  Our first meeting of 2016/17 will be in September -  a welcome to the Society with cheese and wine. Apart from these meetings, BAFS has encouraged and supported visits between Beverley and its twin town in northern France, Nogent sur Oise   -   between Beverlonians and the Nogentais.

BAFS currently supports the Beverley-Nogent Town Twinning Association (BNTTA) and will continue to do so.

The first meeting of the BNTTA on 16th January 2015 gave a boost to the twinning aims and formalised the separate, though complementary, structure of the two organisations.

Naturally many people are members of both.  For more information on the BNTTA please visit   www.beverley-nogent.com
